World Continence Week 2026

World Continence Week 2026 runs from 15 June to 21 June 2026 and is an important reminder that bladder leakage, urgency, pelvic floor weakness and continence concerns are common, treatable, and nothing to be embarrassed about.

At GV Body Rejuvenation, we are proud to support women and men across the Goulburn Valley with advanced non-surgical treatment options designed to strengthen the pelvic floor and core.

We have been delivering EMSELLA and EMSCULPT to the region—and to many clients who have travelled to us—since March 2022.

We are also proud to be listed as a provider on the Continence Health Australia website, helping connect Australians with continence support services.

Incontinence Is More Common Than Many Realise

According to Continence Health Australia:

  • 1 in 3 Australians over age 15 experience incontinence

  • More than 7.2 million Australians are affected

  • Women are twice as likely as men to experience incontinence

  • Almost 4 in 10 women experience incontinence

  • 7 in 10 people living with incontinence are younger than 65

This means incontinence is not just an ageing issue. It can affect:

  • New mums

  • Women in peri-menopause and menopause

  • Men after prostate or pelvic changes

  • Active women who exercise

  • People with chronic coughing or constipation

  • Those with pelvic organ prolapse (POP)

  • Anyone with weakened pelvic floor support

Types of Urinary Incontinence

Stress Incontinence

Leakage caused by pressure on the bladder, such as:

  • Coughing

  • Sneezing

  • Laughing

  • Jumping

  • Running

  • Lifting

Often linked to pelvic floor weakness and reduced core support.

Urge Incontinence

A sudden strong urge to urinate and difficulty making it to the toilet in time.

Often associated with bladder overactivity, poor control patterns, or pelvic floor dysfunction.

Mixed Incontinence

A combination of both stress and urge symptoms.

Why Pelvic Floor & Core Strength Matter

Your pelvic floor muscles support:

  • Bladder control

  • Bowel control

  • Pelvic organs

  • Sexual function

  • Core stability

Your deeper abdominal core muscles work closely with the pelvic floor.

When these systems weaken or become poorly coordinated, symptoms may include:

  • Leaking urine

  • Urgency

  • Heaviness

  • Reduced confidence

  • Lower back instability

  • Prolapse symptoms

Improving pelvic floor and core strength may help reduce symptoms and in some cases eliminate them, depending on the cause and severity.

Why Kegels Don’t Always Work

Many people are told:

“Just do Kegels.”

But common challenges include:

  • Not knowing if you are doing them correctly

  • Weak muscles unable to generate a strong contraction

  • Forgetting to do them consistently

  • Over-tightening instead of coordinating properly

  • Giving up because results were limited

If this sounds familiar, you are not alone.

EMSELLA May Be Your Solution

At GV Body Rejuvenation, we offer EMSELLA—a non-invasive chair treatment designed to stimulate thousands of supramaximal pelvic floor contractions in one session.

Clients remain fully clothed and simply sit comfortably during treatment.

EMSELLA may assist with:

  • Stress incontinence

  • Urge symptoms

  • Postpartum weakness

  • Pelvic floor deconditioning

  • Confidence returning to exercise

  • Pelvic floor awareness and activation

For many clients who struggled with traditional exercises, it can be a valuable next step.

Core2Floor – Our Signature Combination

We also offer Core2Floor, combining:

  • EMSELLA for pelvic floor strengthening

  • EMSCULPT for abdominal core strengthening

Why combine both?

Because pelvic floor and abdominal core function as a team.

This may be ideal for:

  • Postpartum recovery

  • Ongoing leakage

  • Reduced core strength after pregnancy

  • Menopause-related deconditioning

  • Pelvic organ prolapse support strategies

  • Confidence rebuilding after years of symptoms

Pregnancy and birth place significant load on:

  • Pelvic floor tissues

  • Connective tissue support

  • Core muscles

  • Pressure management systems

Common postpartum symptoms include:

  • Leaking when sneezing

  • Reduced core strength

  • Heaviness

  • Reduced exercise confidence

Many women assume this is normal.

It may be common—but it should still be assessed and managed.

Hormonal changes during peri-menopause and menopause may contribute to:

  • Tissue thinning

  • Reduced collagen support

  • Increased urgency

  • Frequency

  • Lower pelvic floor resilience

This is why many women notice symptoms increase in their 40s and 50s.

POP occurs when pelvic organs descend due to reduced support.

Symptoms may include:

  • Vaginal heaviness

  • Pressure

  • Bulging sensation

  • Bladder symptoms

  • Leakage

Pelvic floor strengthening and core pressure management can be an important part of conservative support, alongside guidance from your GP or pelvic health professional.
