FOR POSTPARTUM

EMSELLA FOR POSTPARTUM

We all know and feel the impact that pregnancy and labour have on our body. From sleep deprivation, those midnight feeds to the swell of emotions and hormones that rise to the surface each time you see and hold your new baby – motherhood forever changes you.

And, when it comes to your pelvic floor and core muscles, it’s no different. These vital groups of muscles have stretched and loosened to accommodate your pregnancy – the combination of hormones, the nine + months of physically supporting your growing baby and finally the birthing process.

Regardless of whether you’ve had a Caesarean or a Vaginal birth, it’s highly likely your pelvic floor and abdominal muscles are going to need some assistance to help them regain strength.

Every pregnancy and labour are different, and each woman’s recovery journey will also look very different. It is so important to be kind and understanding with ourselves and even though some women are able to regain pelvic floor & core strength in just a few months postpartum, some women’s experiences and ongoing symptoms & weakness can last much longer.

Symptoms of a weak pelvic floor can include:

  • Leaking urine when sneezing, coughing, jumping, exercising, laughing or running

  • Leaking or an inability to make it to the toilet

  • Passing wind when bending or lifting (this can be from the vagina or anus)

  • Lack of sensation in the vagina (during penetration)

  • Inability to hold a tampon in

  • Feeling of heaviness in the pelvic floor or vaginal region

  • Regular UTIs or thrush

  • Pain with sex

  • Struggle or inability to orgasm

  • Incontinence (urine or faeces)

It is very important to know that pelvic floor weakness is incredibly common – in fact 1 in 4 of us will experience it at some point in our lives. And most importantly, there are treatments available.

At GVBR we provide our patients access to the BTL Emsella Chair. This non-invasive technology uses HIFEM® (High Intensity Focused Electromagnetic energy) to contract 90% of your entire pelvic floor hammock 11,200 times in each 30-minute session – to give you perspective, studies have found that women who can perform Kegels well can only contract 40% of this pelvic floor musculature. On top of this, each Emsella contraction is what’s called a ‘supramaximal contraction’, which is a way to say it contracts your muscles to 100% of their ability – something that is physically impossible to do without technology like the Emsella.

Emsella is so ground-breaking because unlike a Kegel, you don’t need to have sensation in the pelvic floor to be able to get results – the technology does all the hard work for you – you can literally, sit and relax.

Following your treatment, you can expect stronger pelvic floor muscles, tighter vaginal walls and improvements in urge and stress incontinence. In fact, clinical studies show that 95% of patients report a significant improvement in symptoms and a 75% reduction in pad use after just six sessions across three weeks.

Your Emsella treatment plan can be started six weeks postpartum (vaginal birth) or 12 weeks postpartum for Caesarean births.

Age is no limit, whether you gave birth a few months ago or many years ago out team is here to help you with your symptoms!

Just because something is common, doesn’t mean it needs to be your normal!

POSTPARTUM SEXUAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING

Emsella has been proven ability to strengthen pelvic muscles may also enable patients to more easily achieve orgasm, experience stronger orgasms, and increased sensation leading to a positive effect on sexual wellness and intimate relationships.

Emsella is a ‘Walk in Walk Out’ completely non-invasive treatment with no downtime.

GVBR is a family friendly environment, know that you are welcome to bring your baby and children to all of your appointments.

The BTL Emsella uses High Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic (HIFEM®) waves to build muscle and permanently increase blood flow in the pelvic floor and perineal area to target the pelvic floor muscles and muscles in the vagina and vaginal canal.

This causes the muscles in the area to contract and relax, giving them a real workout. The treatment also triggers the production of new fibroblasts and collagen in the area, helping to make the tissues of the vagina, labia and clitoris more sensitive, and heightening sexual sensation.

For women, this process helps to create a tighter vaginal canal, and improves sensation of the vaginal tissues, including the clitoris and vaginal opening, to increase the sexual pleasure you feel, giving your sex drive a boost and making it easier to reach orgasm. It also improves the strength and ease of orgasm, to help make sex more pleasurable and give you back confidence and happiness in your sexuality.

BTL Emsella, the revolutionary treatment may help improve your sex life and give you stronger, more frequent orgasms as a side effect to strengthening your pelvic floor. Several studies have shown that pelvic floor weakness and imbalance can sexual dysfunction for both men and women.

EMSCULPT FOR POSTPARTUM

Abdominal weakness and diastasis recti (abdominal separation) are both common postpartum, with research finding about 2 in every 3 women experience it.

And, it’s not just an aesthetic issue, but diastasis recti can lead to lower back pain, constipation, prolapse and hernias.

However, for those women looking to decrease their abdominal separation quickly, effectively and safely, Emsculpt is a fantastic option. This technology is FDA & TGA approved and backed by clinical research showing us that we can expect a 16% decrease in diastasis recti after just two - three weeks, with no recover time- a result only previously achieved through surgery, with a significant recovery period.

Many women also report a general lack of abdominal strength postpartum. This is because your DRAM (diastasis rectus abdominus muscles) have stretched to accommodate your pregnancy – and when looking to strengthen your core with an exercise program, it can take months of consistent work to get significant improvements in strength.

Like Emsella, Emsculpt uses HIFEM® energy and each 30-minute session induces 20,000 supramaximal contractions that target your abdominals and obliques – these supramaximal contractions mean your muscles are contracting to 100% of their capabilities; something impossible to achieve by yourself.

You may also notice an excess layer of fat across your belly that is hard to decrease after pregnancy. Functional muscles burn three times as much calories as what fat does, so when you have weakened muscles as a result of pregnancy, your body may not be burning energy as quickly as it used to.

Emsculpt is clinically proven to reduce abdominal fat by 19% and increase muscle tone by 16%.

But how does Emsculpt burn fat?

The quick, repetitive contractions in your targeted muscle groups during an Emsculpt treatment cause a chain reaction in your muscles:

  1. The muscles release a chemical signalling local fat cells to breakdown in order to sustain the rapid contractions with adequate energy.

  2. This process of fat lipolysis or fat cell destruction metabolises local fat cells.

  3. Fat cells are eventually broken down and completely expelled by your body as waste.

Thanks to the pulsing electromagnetic energy your bodies process of metabolising fat cells are optimised at nearly five times the normal rate during this procedure.

Core to floor therapy

Your pelvic organs (bladder, uterus & bowel) are held in place by ligaments and fascia – they connect & stabilise the pelvic organs to the pelvis.

Sometimes during birth, surgery or from different medial conditions, these ligaments and fascia are stretched or damaged. Having a strong core and pelvic floor is so important to keep these organs supported.

When they are not supported it can lead to symptoms such as stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and pain.

Combining your Emsella and the Emsculpt abdomen treatments is what we call ‘Core to floor therapy’.

Core to floor therapy strengthens from below your diaphragm (top of your six pack) all the way down and around to your coccyx (tail bone) which not only supports your pelvic floor better but also your core, back and pelvis!

The increase in muscle mass also helps support your metabolism.
